The Tasks

The tasks

Most of the people working now, are beginning with the coil and working backward through the circuit. This is unfortunately not a very modular task. Once the coil itself is done, then some other projects can begin — such as building holders and mounts, and refining coil fabrication methods.

However, there are a few tasks that can be started independently of the coil, RIGHT AWAY — please claim them!

An unordered list
1. Start fleshing out the parts lists for coil and testing tank, to drill down all the way to part numbers

2. Start working on EEG and IR systems that are TMS compatible — take a look at integration with EEG or IR

* Bo Morgan has started putting together an offsite list of NIR helmet specifications (should be moved locally).

3. Start writing up protocols for using TMS to do simple alterations — see Protocol 1 for the beginnings of one

4. Start building some serial-bus and other stereotypical circuits for controlling the hardware via a computer — see computer software and interface hardware

    • I'll do some work on #4. I have developed some software to control a cortical micro stimulator using a NI6533 PCI-DAQ with patterned output. But one of these cards runs about $750. Over the budget? This would be the easiest way. I also have some experience with Verilog/VHDL and could probably code this up on a PCI card like the Raggedstone (Enterpoint Co, UK) which runs about $300. What platform are we initially developing this for? I have a PCI core w/ DMA written in Verilog which interfaces to a DMA ready Linux Kernel Module. --Ian Peikon

Recent News and Developments

I have added this section due to the fact that I thought it would be a simple way to centralize the reporting of our progress on the above tasks. If you add a file, image, or whatever, just leave a note here in this, or a similar, format:

I believe that this will work for now but I implore the administrators to place a separate page under the Wiki folder in the sidebar for such news.
