BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: electrical engineering
DID: experiment with sound & light machines
DOING: building sound & light machine, utilizing some new ideas of my own
WILL DO: play with ideas for Open Brain Stimulator Project
THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT:

Brandon J.K. Barks - bbarks.tms@hotmail.com
Background/Expertise: BSc Microbiology & Immunology. I am also studying to get my MD.
Did: I have not done anything within this field as of yet.
Doing: Currently I am researching the available literature pertaining to TMS and neural stimulation/inhibition.
Will Do: My plan is to aid in the construction of a personal TMS machine and use it to further the understanding of the human mind. More specifically, I have plans to perform a study on TMS and savantism, TMS and speech disorder, and TMS and chronic pain syndrome.
Thoughts On What We Need Next: I concur with the other members in the fact that we need project management. After there is a more defined goal structure, we can progress through the necessary goals to reach the point where we have an actual prototype to test.
I Live At: Canada

Manuel Betancurt
email address — juanman234@yahoo.com
website — hyperprogram.com
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: IT developer, studying Electronic Engineering
DID: what you've done in this field before, Audio visual stimulation device

WILL DO: keep the wiki in order
THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT: find some initial cap/inductor values to try out.

William Cuthbertwac2@buffalo.edu
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: electrical engineering, computer music
DID: preliminary research
DOING: design a new TMS device
WILL DO: make TMS more practical and affordable
I LIVE AT: Western New York
INTERESTED IN MEETING OTHERS LOCALLY FOR SHARING: Yes

Amos Dettonville — tasty at buffaloes dot com
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: Most of my expertise is in software, currently
as applied to industrial automation (robots tasked with building
custom parts using machine vision, that sort of thing). I write in 15-20 languages so far, closer to 25 if one counts
hardware-specific languages. I've read a great deal on
neuro-anatomy, not so much yet on -chemistry and -physiology.
WILL DO: I can translate the wiki or other materials into Russian,
Spanish, Portuguese. (I know a little Mandarin too but I'm sure Xue
Han has me beat there =P) I can help with the microcontroller programming, protocol design, and human interface across different platforms. I can donate small sums of money on a regular basis for materials.
THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT: As a collaborative open-source project
we need all the blueprints we've got so far, a subversion repository
for every piece of code we write, external resources for the public to learn more, possibly an IRC channel, all linked to on the Main page (which
should be broken down into links to other sections, since it's too
text-heavy as it is). We should have a paypal donation link for
materials or future needs. I'm 100% with Ed that we need project
management and that everyone should have clearly defined goals.
I LIVE AT: Minneapolis, MN
INTERESTED IN MEETING OTHERS LOCALLY FOR SHARING: Of course

Leo Parker Dirac — leo (at) byz.org
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: physics, electronics, internet applications
DID: Cheerleading
DOING: More cheerleading

THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT:

Pierre Dragicevic — (Please no spam) — http://liihs.irit.fr/dragice
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: R&D in human-computer interfaces
DID:
DOING: -
WILL DO: software
THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT:
I LIVE AT: Toronto
INTERESTED IN MEETING OTHERS LOCALLY FOR SHARING: interested

Alexander Gräf alex@graef.cc
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE:
Software engineer, various programming languages since 1995, also able to build electronic devices
DID: nothing
DOING: nothing
WILL DO: Software development (Windows GUI, low level I/O), web development (pages, design), documentation, translation (german), marketing (spreading the word, finding engineers if necessary)
THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT: A time schedule. A cleaner website, with structured information/milestones and clear goals. Why? Developing such a device makes a lot of fun, but the ultimate goal - at least for me - is having one for myself. I think that is the goal for many people, so with a clear schedule and milestones, people will be more likely to join the project and contribute, if they can see a soon-to-approach goal, or at least know how many % of the whole thing are done and what has to be done.
I LIVE AT: Frankfurt/Main, Germany
INTERESTED IN MEETING OTHERS LOCALLY FOR SHARING: Of course!

Mark GarfinOpenrTMS@superkuh.comhttp://nervousenenergy.net/
BACKGROUND/EXPERTISE: Have improvised cheap (dangerous) high voltage power supplies out of common parts and can tweak both analog and solid state switching schemes at high amperage and voltages from other applications and fields. Also, I know a bit of neuroscience.
DID: Designed a sub-$250 TMS (not rTMS, too much heat) spark gap swithed device documented on my page (it is not very good).
DOING: Designed, stimuluated and built a galvanic vestibular stimulator with current mirror control and an BJT H-bridge controlled by a perl parallel port script.
WILL DO: Find cheap IGBTs with fast dI/dT times and make a list of suitable gate drives and topologies for switching and how they can be implemented most cheaply and simply.
THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE NEED NEXT: We need to schedule meetings in some real
time media like an IRC channel x___ per week/month or VOIP conferences
to see if we're all thinking the same things.
I LIVE AT: Very Western, Wisconsin
INTERESTED IN MEETING OTHERS LOCALLY FOR SHARING: Sure.
